We fight over sausage.  That's right, sausage.  The Pit always wants hot dogs or bratwurst or any encased ground spiced meat and The Picky Girl wants to avoid gastrointestinal distress.  This argument becomes moot when we are in Germany and can stuff are greedy faces with weisswurst. Unfortunately, we are rarely in Germany and so our wiener solution is The Uber Sausage.  The Uber Sausage is a mouthful of meaty goodness right on Colfax.  Yep, just wrote that with a straight face.

All of the food at The Uber Sausage is cooked when ordered with fresh cut potato chips, specially stuffed sausage and crisp, clean toppings and tangy sauces.  No nasty reheated dogs or limp, mass produced toppings here. I like the story behind the founding of The Uber Sausage that you can read on their website.  This is a great place for a quick, cheap bite that is much nicer than typical fast food.

You need to get the homemade chips!  Shake one or a combination of their seven seasonings as your taste buds desire.  I have gotten the Pumpkin Pie Spice and Sugar when I wanted a sweet pairing and went with the Ranch this visit when I was craving more of a tangy side.  If you want super, thin and crisp chips these might not for you, they are thick and hearty with crisp edges and a juicer center.  I know juicy chips, who would have thought this works?  And best of all they are not pre-fried, they drop a new batch in every time you order.

I had the Chicken Apple Sausage minus the sweet onions and mustard.  (What?  I'm picky.)  The spinach was freakishly fresh, the granny smith apples had amazing crunchy tartness, and the creamy blue cheese made a truly special sandwich.  I was worried that the chicken sausage would be dry and/or bland, but it had a good spice and a nice amount of fat.  I NEVER get toppings on sausage because the toppings offered at a typical brat place will gross me out.  It is a huge win that I found a meal and not basic meat and bread.  Look ma, I ate green things and liked it!

If you are looking for a traditional Chicago Dog, this is not what you are going to get here.  It has a good flavor profile, but the spices in the buffalo dog don't mesh as well with the traditional toppings (green relish, pickle, tomato, sport peppers and celery salt) as a standard hot dog.  The other problem was the bread to meat ratio.  Too much bread for my meat, scooping out the excess bread from the middle would have went a long way to improving this sandwich.  The bread was fresh cooked and tasty with an excellent crust.  I just wanted the traditional soft roll with poppyseeds.  All the ingredients were nicely prepared, only not what I have come to love in a Chicago Dog.

The Kielbasa was spot on perfect!  The apple coleslaw gave a refreshing, crisp counterbalance to the rich meat and BBQ sauce.  The same french bread that disconnected with the Chicago Dog pulled the Smoked Kielbasa together into yummy goodness.  The flavors married together so well that I couldn't describe any of individual ingredients in more detail.

The potato chips were awesome.  The fresh cut potatoes were substantial and not the typical thin grease vehicle.  I did the Creole and Seasoned Salt toppings for my chips and that had great flavor.  I liked seasoning them myself, so I could add to my own taste.  I loaded mine up and cleared out my sinuses when I put my face to close to the bag!  One thing I learned was that for future visits, was that a single sandwich and order of chips will suffice for even my gargantuan appetite.

Went here today on a whim and after seeing how great it was, needed to do research on what others thought. You are spot on with the chips, so good! Your spellcheck needs some love like your appreciation of food though.

They would next overeat them against tubular boots made from the cleaned intestines of the carnal, producing the inherent round contour. Since, sausages, desserts, also salami are with the oldest of prepared nutritions, whether cooked moreover eaten instantaneously or dried to varying orders. Thank you.
